Bahamasair has terminated one of its captains following an internal investigation sparked by concerns raised during a routine flight last week.
On August 31, a scheduled flight from Nassau to Marsh Harbour experienced an unexpected development upon arrival. The first officer on board expressed concerns regarding cockpit dynamics and, citing those concerns, recommended that the aircraft not proceed to its next scheduled destination—Palm Beach—until the matter was addressed.
As a precautionary measure, both members of the flight crew were immediately relieved of duty. Replacement pilots were dispatched to ensure the continuation of the flight schedule without further disruption to passengers.
Subsequently, Bahamasair received voice recordings from the captain involved, which were deemed inappropriate and inconsistent with the airline's professional and operational standards. Following a thorough review, the airline confirmed that the captain, a 12-year veteran, has been relieved of his duties and is no longer employed with Bahamasair.
Managing Director Tracy Cooper addressed the incident, which occurred in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and maintaining the highest standards of conduct.
