The Bahamas government has given prosecutors the green light to begin extradition proceedings against bestselling author Barbara Stcherbatcheff.
The 43-year-old is wanted in Switzerland for allegedly kidnapping her eight-year-old son from Switzerland in February 2023 after she lost a custody battle to his father.
The kidnapping sparked an international search for the boy, with Interpol issuing a yellow notice. The search ended in The Bahamas in December 2024.
Stcherbatcheff, the author of Confessions of a City Girl, is being held without bail at the Department of Correctional Services.
She returns to court next month for a fixture hearing. She is represented by Damian Gomez KC and Owen Wells.
