A ten-month-old baby girl who was rushed to hospital and died after reportedly falling inside a moving vehicle.
The infant was taken to hospital shortly before 3:45 a.m., unresponsive and bleeding from the mouth.
Medical personnel alerted police officers after the child was brought in for emergency treatment. Investigators spoke with a doctor, who said a man had transported the infant to the hospital.
Police subsequently interviewed the driver, who said he had been travelling along Prince Charles Drive in a 2013 Nissan Versa with his girlfriend’s ten-month-old daughter unrestrained in the front seat.
The driver told police he suddenly swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle, causing the baby to fall onto the floor of the car.
He said he then took the child to her mother’s home in Nassau Village, where they fed her.
However, shortly afterwards, the infant appeared to be in distress, prompting the adults to rush her to the hospital.
Medical personnel immediately took the child into the trauma unit, where several doctors and other medical professionals attempted to treat her.
Police said the infant had sustained bruising to the left side of her face and head, as well as a fractured femur.
Despite efforts to save her, the baby was pronounced dead at 4:16 a.m.
