After remaining closed to guests since March, is Atlantis Paradise Paradise preparing for a December 1 reopening?
The mega-resort’s website invites prospective guests to “Book Now” offering reservations as of December 1, 2020.
Minister of Tourism Dionisio D’Aguilar said recently he has been in talks with executives of the major resorts and is encouraged that they will reopen in 2020.
Atlantis has postponed its reopening at least twice, prompting some employees to ask for redundancy pay. However, the resort does not appear to be willing or in the financial position to meet those demands.
The jewel of Paradise Island was initially scheduled to reopen during the first week of July but postponed the reopening to July 30. That new deadline came and went with no reopening due to a rapid rise in coronavirus cases both in The Bahamas and the United States where more than 80 percent of tourists come from.
