Franklyn Glinton, one of the young men accused of the brutal murder of 17-year-old Lavard McKenzie Jr has been freed on bail— just in time for Christmas.

Glinton, 20, and a 17-year-old are accused of beating McKenzie to death in bushes on August 27.

McKenzie’s body was found a street away from his home in Miller’s Heights on August 30. He had been beaten beyond recognition.

Justice Gregory Hilton set bail at $30,000 with two sureties for Glinton.

As part of his bail conditions, Glinton must wear an electronic monitoring device and sign in at the Carmichael Road Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before 6pm.

Glinton’s underage co-accused was granted bail within weeks of being charged.
