Abaco deacon accused of sleeping with teen girl

A church deacon accused of a sex crime against a child has been denied bail.

Archilaus Cooper Jr, 63, a deacon at Faith Walk Church of God in Cooper’s Town, Abaco, pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent at his arraignment before Magistrate Ancella Evans.

Prosecutors say he had sex with a 15-year-old girl on February 24 and March 16.

His trial is set for August 4.
