4 BPL employees infected with COVID-19

Four additional employees of Bahamas Power and Light have tested positive for the coronavirus. Seven other employees were also tested but their results came back negative.

In addition to a contractor who tested positive last week, an employee left work with an unrelated illness and had no COVID-related symptoms but decided to get tested. The test was positive. Contact tracing and testing sparked by that worker’s diagnosis resulted in the other new cases. The employees are home in quarantine for the 14-day period.

BPL has enhanced its deep cleaning, sanitizing and fumigating schedules, according to executive management.

The company is also encouraging more employees to work from home to limit the number of people in its headquarters during a one-week period.

As of Sunday, 1,315 people have tested positive for COVID-19. 18 people have died, including a 37-year-old man who passed away today.
