Following media reports on the sudden illness of ten students at Achievers Christian Academy in The Bahamas, Principal Dr. Matheo Smith addressed concerns, stating, "Preliminary investigations indicate that the students' illness may be linked to rigorous physical activities during a recent physical education class, rather than interactions with visiting missionaries on February 15."
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident that occurred at the private institution located off Tonique Darling-Williams Highway.
According to preliminary reports, students at the academy experienced dizziness, vomiting, and fainting during physical education activities.
Police said the affected students were promptly transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Dr. Smith said the affected students have the school's full support, stating, "We will continue to focus our efforts on assisting authorities with their investigation and will provide updates to the media to ensure transparency and proper information dissemination to the general public."
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
