Hundreds of employees of the Department of Social Services on several islands are walking out at lunchtime in protest of harsh working conditions.
Despite promises from the minister that their concerns would be addressed, workers say they are sick and tired of the empty promises.
This is the second time in weeks employees are putting their foot down and demanding better from the government.
Last month, employees at the Social Services office on Robinson Road refused to serve dozens of families and seniors who showed up to seek assistance.
Following the demonstration in June, Minister of Social Services Frankie Campbell said employees’ concerns were being addressed.
“Everything that the staff at the Department of Social Services is asking for, they deserve,” Campbell said.
However, one month later, workers are still fighting for better conditions.
This isn’t the only action expected by government employees as they say they enough is enough.
