Search underway for missing plane after Exuma departure

Authorities are reporting a missing single-engine aircraft that departed Exuma earlier this afternoon, bound for Nassau, with one person believed to be on board.

The aircraft is reportedly being piloted by a Bahamian male, who is believed to be an Exuma resident.

Acting Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Exuma and Ragged Island Chester Cooper said he is following reports of the missing aircraft and expressed concern for the pilot and his loved ones.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this time,” Cooper said.

He also offered prayers for the pilot's safe return and for the safety and success of all personnel involved in the search efforts.
