A police corporal charged with plotting the murder of 43-year-old passport office employee Jayson Whitfield has been granted bail—one week after his initial court appearance.
Justice Renae McKay set bail at $30,000 with two to three sureties for Cpl Darren Davis and ordered him to wear an ankle bracelet.
Prosecutors say Cpl Davis and his cousin Stephon Davis arranged Whitfield’s murder on December 2.
Whitfield was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to the head on December 3 in the driver’s seat of his government-issued car in Garden Hills.
Cpl Davis, an officer of 25 years, has been suspended from his duties and placed on half-pay.
