PM breaks COVID-rules by attending packed funeral

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

The Saxons Junkanoo group gave noted surgeon Dr Philip “Slimey” Thompson a grand send-off at his funeral on Thursday.

Dr Thompson’s childhood friend, Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis was among the hundreds of mourners.

Police diverted traffic to permit the massive Junkanoo rush-out in the streets.

Though the prime minister didn’t take part in the rush-out, the huge funeral turnout clearly violated social distancing rules put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

It was only fitting that the Saxons would pay to tribute to Dr Thompson, a chief costume designer for the group.

The huge turn-out was also expected, as Dr Thompson was well-liked and popular.

But how many other people have been deprived of the burial that they deserved due to measures imposed by Dr Minnis in his capacity as the competent authority?

Does this mean that the rules only apply to those who aren’t friendly with Dr. Minnis? attending packed funeral
