More than 300 immigration officers were officially promoted today during a nationwide promotion and confirmation ceremony hosted by the Department of Immigration at Transformation Ministries International.
The celebratory event drew officers from across the country, who applauded as their colleagues were recognized and honored. Minister of Immigration Alfred Sears, alongside Permanent Secretary Ellison Greenslade, presided over the ceremony and presented the promotions and accoutrements.
Director of Immigration William Pratt emphasized the extensive work behind the months-long promotion exercise. He explained that the initiative was not only a long-overdue recognition of hard work but also a key component of the department’s succession planning strategy.
He added, the promotion exercise took several months to complete, as they carefully mapped out the future leadership of the Department of Immigration. He pointed out, it is not just about promotions—it's about preparing for the next generation of leadership.
Pratt acknowledged that not all recommended individuals received promotions. He noted that issues such as poor attendance and chronic tardiness prevented some officers from being approved, despite strong recommendations.
He extended gratitude to the government for releasing the necessary funds to make the exercise possible.
