A 29-year-old man accused of causing the death of an infant has been denied bail on a manslaughter charge.
Prosecutors say Kirkwood Thompson was minding three-month-old Teniesha Milfort on January 16 when she became unresponsive.
The baby was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Police arrested Thompson after they noticed injuries on the baby’s face.
Thompson was not required to enter a plea to the manslaughter charge when he appeared before Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.
Bail was denied and he returns to court on March 9.
On that date, he is expected to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will fast track the case to the Supreme Court.
