Jamaicans plead guilty to growing ganja farm

Six Jamaican ganja farmers could be jailed for up to three years.

Leroy Douglas, Walford Reid, Jermaine Jones, Devon Simpson, Bruce Palmer, and Everton Palmer were arrested after police uprooted a four-acre ganja farm in North Andros on August 14.

They pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply and cultivation of dangerous drugs at their arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

He sentenced each man to 2 ½ years in prison. That sentence will increase to three years if they don’t pay a $7,500 fine.

Police seized 25,000 plants and 20,000 seedlings. The farm was reportedly started in June 2022.
