A raging fire reduced the National Insurance Board’s office on Acklins to a burnt shell on Thursday morning.

700 Wines and Spirits liquor store was also damaged along with a truck and minivan parked in front of the building.

Everything inside the building was destroyed and the roof collapsed during the blaze. The only thing left standing was the walls.

Three NIB employees and three 700 Wines employees worked in the building.

NIB advised customers that fire “severely damaged” its office and as a result “in person service and drop box service are not available.”

Customers on Acklins were urged to visit NIB’s website to access registration, verification, pension and contribution services online.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
