Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced founder of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, has agreed to be extradited to the United States to face fraud charges.
The 30-year-old, better known as SBF, could spend the rest of his life behind bars if he’s convicted of fraud charges related to the collapse of FTX.
SBF told Magistrate Shaka Serville that his decision to end his extradition battle was voluntary.
As a result of his decision to waive an extradition hearing, Serville has committed SBF into custody to await extradition.
SBF could be sent to the United States as soon as today.
However, The Bahamas has up to 60 days to extradite him.
If he’s not sent within that period, SBF can apply to the Supreme Court for a discharge.
