A Bahamasair flight en route from Long Island to Nassau was forced to turn back shortly after takeoff today due to a technical issue, according to a statement from the national flag carrier.

Flight UP730, which departed from Deadman’s Cay Airport bound for Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, returned to Long Island “out of an abundance of caution,” the airline confirmed.

In its official statement, Bahamasair emphasized its commitment to safety: “Out of an abundance of caution, Flight UP730 returned to its departure airport. As the safety of our passengers is our number one priority, we extend our sincerest apologies and thank those that were impacted for their patience and understanding.”

The airline did not elaborate on the specific nature of the technical issue, but noted that standard safety protocols were followed and that all passengers and crew landed safely without incident.
