Govt’s deafening silence on RBPF COVID-19 cases

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Bahamas, a concerning amount of police officers are being quarantined and police stations are being temporarily closed due to confirmed and suspected cases.

So far, three police stations have been closed due to officers testing positive for COVID 19: Fox Hill Police Station, Criminal Records Office on Thompson Boulevard, and Fort Charlotte Police Station.

There have been 6 Bimini police officers who have been placed in quarantine causing a shortage of officers on the island. In addition, many Grand Bahamian officers were also exposed to the virus at a party.

The rise in numbers must be concerning for officers around the country. Where are the Commissioner of Police and the Minister of National Security? We expected a statement to be released ensuring the safety of our officers and also the safety of our citizens who come in contact with officers.

What protocols are being put in place to ensure our national security does not continue to spiral with more COVID-19 cases?

The public deserves a statement.
