Employees of the National Insurance Board arrived at the Baillou Hill Road office on Monday to discover that the ceiling in the office housing the Inspectorate department had fallen in, flooding the room.
18 employees who work in the office had to be relocated until repairs are made.
However, workers say this incident highlights a bigger issue of substandard conditions they are forced to work in.
According to employees, the ceiling in the Compliance booth caved in minutes after an employee walked out. Similar incidents have been reported in the Cashiers office and Customer Service department.
Workers count themselves lucky that the ceiling collapsed over the weekend when no one was in but they are concerned NIB bosses are doing nothing to repair the building which is falling apart.
