A mother-of-seven has been jailed for failing to tell authorities about the physical abuse of her sons, ages four and five.
Crystal Lightbourne, 38, whose last two children are six month and one-year-old, was sentenced to four months in prison for her failure to act.
In sentencing, Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans said, “The Court feels it is important for you to be sent to prison, not only for what you did, but for the protection of those younger ones.”
Lightbourne’s boyfriend, Patrico Taylor, has denied child cruelty charges.
Prosecutors allege that he severely beat her sons, causing injuries.
Taylor pleaded not guilty and is on $5,000 bail pending his trial.
