The man accused of causing an accident that killed a businessman and his wife was driving without insurance.

Alexander Butler, 33, of Monastery Park, is accused of causing the death of Brent Johnson and Eulona Dean-Johnson on Christmas Day.

Butler denied driving along West Bay Street in a manner dangerous to the public and causing the couple’s death.

However, Butler admitted that he didn’t have third party insurance coverage at the time of the accident.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt will hold a bail hearing on January 28.

He’ll remain in custody until then.
