Covid outbreak in Ministry of Tourism department

The Ministry of Tourism could be battling a COVID-19 outbreak after a handful of employees in one department were infected.

Two of those workers have been hospitalized after experiencing severe symptoms.

Sources say one employee in the department continued to work from the office she shares with colleagues after one of her children tested positive for COVID-19.

Instead of getting tested and quarantining after being exposed to the virus, the woman never informed her colleagues that she had come into contact with a positive case and continued to show up for work until she started displaying symptoms of the virus.

By then it was too late and other employees began to display symptoms as well.

Two of them started off at home but had to be admitted to hospital for treatment.

Other workers have since tested positive.

There has been no word from the Ministry of Tourism regarding deep cleaning in the department.

The country is in the grips of a deadly third wave, with record daily cases and hospitalizations reported.

130 new cases were confirmed on Wednesday.
