UPDATE: Police make arrests in little boy’s murder
Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle has confirmed that several people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a little boy who was shot to death last night
A 7-year-old boy was shot and killed in Nassau Village on Sunday night when a gunman riding as a passenger in a blue vehicle opened fire on a group of people standing outside of a home.
Police say he was caught in the crossfire.
"Shortly before 9pm, police received reports of a shooting on Esmerelda Avenue and Alexander Boulevard. Officers responded and on their arrival, we met the body of a juvenile male lying face down on the ground with apparent wounds to the body," according to Press Liaison Officer ASP Audley Peters.
"Information is that a blue vehicle approached the residence and an occupant opened fire on the persons that were gathered in front of this residence, resulting in the juvenile being hit."
EMS pronounced the child dead on the scene.
Despite media reports of a man being shot, Peters indicated the child was the only victim of the shooting.
His family members were on the scene, distraught and in shock, that the innocent child was the victim of gun violence.
